Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We strive to show our students that the only limits are the ones you put in front of yourself. Our school is found in East Los Angeles in a low-income neighborhood. Our school is 98% Hispanic/Latino, and 94% socioeconomically disadvantaged. What makes my students so special is that they wake up every day and come to school ready to learn, despite what the world and media is telling them about themselves, and despite the hardships of where they come from. Our school always wants to provide the best for our students but being in the low-income area that we are, funds are always limited. It is the generous and kindhearted people in this world who keep my students and I motivated to learn, share, and be college bound!
My Project
One of the most frustrating things that happens to teachers is having to print so many worksheets and having printers break down. In our campus, we have 2 big printers and we are basically always hoping they don't jam. This also doesn't help our students have access to printing out their projects. Students will know they can come into my class to print out their work without having to wait around until someone can send their documents.
Having a classroom printer would allow greater accessibility for my students.
If we equip our students with all the resources they need for their success we are giving them tools for their future.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
