I teach art for grades kindergarten through eighth grade. We are in a very inner city public school setting and all of my students receive free lunches.
My students started learning about printmaking last year, when we did a project on carving rubber blocks and printing. The quality of the prints didn't turn out well because we didn't have a press, and I only had the funds to allow them to use a very small piece of rubber, about the size of a business card.
This year, I would like to take this project even further. I would love to be able to let students use an actual press to get good results from their hard work carving. I would also like to let them work on a bigger area of rubber to get an even more successful print.
Your help will allow my students to realize the amazing printmaking media. This will facilitate learning of math, literacy, as well as deep self discovery within my students. This project is so important in the art-making skill building process.
