This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach art for Leslie A. Stemmons Elementary. Art has not been a part of the curriculum at Stemmons for 6 years. I am starting a new program. Stemmons is a Title 1 school. I teach Kindergarten thru 6th grade which is about 900 students total. I am wanting to build the art program and funds are limited. I would like to be able to have the students work in a variety of media. One media I feel they would benefit from is print making. The supplies will give the students an introduction to print making, while they learn the process of print making.
Some activites I have planned:
- Personality print (thinking of an object that helps explain the student's personality)
- Draw an image on the foam board.
- Repeat the print in different colors.
I will show some examples of Andy Warhols work and discuss what professions use this process today. I am needing all materials for print making (brayers, foam board) I would like to start print making with the 2nd-6th graders. The students have no art exposure. This is most of the students first year to have art in school.
