Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are involved in a highly competitive program that involves many other schools around our area, country and the world. Our students are required to start and operate a business from scratch; these young entrepreneurs are expected to fully learn and understand all aspects of the business world. In doing so, they are more prepared then the average student for their upcoming post secondary experience. We incorporate all levels of students in our program; English Language Learners, Students with Disabilities as well as Non-Traditional Students. Our main focus is ensure a 4 year graduation with an advanced diploma and readiness for college.
We have had severe budget cuts. Our equipment is old and outdated thus making it difficult to meet certain state and national standards in our area.
My students need a new printer. Our students print multiple projects for submission to contests and different competitions throughout the year. Their personal portfolios also require hard copies of all their digital work. This portfolio is a requirement for graduation from the program Without a new printer, students are in danger of failure or they will have to incur the expense of printing on their own.
Please allow our students to compete with those who have unlimited resources. The Socio-Economic conditions of their homelife should not be mirrored in their academic setting. We owe them more.
