This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Art is a universal language. It cuts across racial, cultural, social, educational and economic barriers and enhances cultural appreciation. The study of art also improves student learning in other academic areas. And, it is fun!
My students are enthusiastic and talented artists.
They love to do anything in art from painting and drawing to ceramics and weaving. Many are ELL learners as they have just immigrated to our country. Their parents are eager for their children to succeed in their new home and show a great appreciation for our cultural climate. Many are artistic at home, so the students bring that love of art with them to class.
My Project
I am requesting two canvas murals for kindergarten and first grade students. These young students are very creative in their drawings and love to paint. We don't often get a lot of time to make paintings having art only once every 10 days. So these murals will enable each student to paint their own area while being part of a larger picture. Then, we can show the murals in the library so their teachers and fellow students can appreciate their unique talents and visions. We will have the original murals hanging in our school so the students can reflect upon their art work and share with family and friends.
Art is important to my students.
They love creating and especially painting. While students are young, they are uninhibited in their painting styles. These murals will reflect their view of their school and their community in a delightful way. These two murals will be painted by kindergarten and first grade students. It will be fun to see everyone's delight when they recognize people and shapes that are common to everyone. These two murals will be important additions to our school climate.
