My Students
I teach at a diverse urban public school in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. The students at my school are goofy, kind, curious, and eager to learn new things. Our school and neighborhood are extremely diverse both economically and racially.
My first grade students are not only exciting to be around, but they are also some of the most caring, hardworking, and curious first graders who bring their open-mindedness into the classroom each and every day!
As their teacher, I strive every day to motivate my students to achieve their highest potential through reading, writing, math, science, music, and exploration!
My Project
This PRIDE project will bring PRIDE and LGBTQ children's books into our classroom.
These PRIDE inspired read alouds will help spark conversations, spread awareness, and encourage students to be allies by showing solidarity and creating rainbow inspired PRIDE socks to go along with the knew knowledge they gain about the history of Harvey Milk and the rainbow flag.
This project will not only spark conversations and awareness about the Gay Pride Flag, but will encourage them to be creative and show support--that everyone and their feelings are welcome in this bright big world.
