Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher and Coach in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide a boost to their self esteem and provide them a way to have team pride. I am looking forward to providing my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students are creative, clever and filled with dreams.
Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.
These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can provide them with a sense of pride.
My Project
By having these team shoes it will bring a uniformity for our team and not have any child feeling that he can not participate because he can't afford the gear or is not a full member of the team. It will also bring a sence of pride to the student athletes when they are at competetions against athor schools that a unifrmed as well in school colored gear. In conclusion when everyone looks the same they feel more apart of a program and have pride in themselves. This will bring about a boust in each childs confidence as well while competing in the sport of wrestling.
