Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom receives three reams (500-count) of copy paper for the year. To supply the rest of my paper and other school supplies, I have no classroom budget so I rely on Donors Choose for all my supplies.
I am the Art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from Kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
I am asking for various sizes of white paper and tag that should last me at least through this school year, if not into the next one. I rely on copy paper for quick sketches and tagboard for handouts. It is important for students to get their ideas on paper before we start our final piece. Also, this paper will be used to classroom activities, homework, tests, poems, artist statements and much much more.
This donation will allow me to distribute copies and paper to sketch for my students.
Copy paper is an essential part of the learning experience especially in the art room. Thank you for considering my project!
