Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge" - Albert Einstein. Providing my students with as many resources as I can will allow them to accomplish more than even they thought possible.

My school serves a middle to low income neighborhood in Staten Island, New York.

I teach Special Education to students in a self-contained classroom who come from many diverse backgrounds. My students are lively, talkative, and eager to do well in school. Unfortunately we do not have the funding to replace frequently-used resources such as ink and paper.

My Project

My students need replacement color ink cartridges for a previously funded Canon printer we received through DonorsChoose.org several months ago. We also need copy paper to print on and colorful card stock to display our work. My students work extremely hard to complete tasks that do not necessarily come easy to them. They are proud of the work they have produced, and having ink and paper for our printer will allow me to continue to reproduce their projects so that one copy can be kept for my records or for display, and one can be taken home.

This printer ink will allow me to create visual aids that will help my students learn in a way that is most effective for them.

Having the ability to use these aids along with written instruction will help my students gain a better understanding of what they are learning. They have benefited greatly from the use of this printer, and I want to make sure we can continue to make the most out of the resources we have by replacing what we have used.
