Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic but often lack the motivation to work on their classwork. They also need support with English speaking and listening. Most are English learners and are struggling in their English Language Arts class.
My students come from a diverse school in a large city.
Part of the school is a magnet with students from all over the city. My students are comprised mainly of residential students from the local low-income neighborhood. Most are English learners, as well.
My Project
The last project funded for our classroom provided us with a new classroom aquarium with (fake) jellyfish. The students loved it! The aquarium is so popular with the students that they are telling their other teachers they need one too!
Now they want more colorful jellyfish and fish for the aquarium.
Also we have a delay stapling all of our classwork at the end of class. This new portable stapler will speed up the paperwork in class and all the students more time to enjoy the new fish in the class aquarium.
