My Students
I teach a very eager group of diverse students with a number of different races, ethnicities and languages. They are 3, 4 and 5 years old. For many of them, this is their first exposure to a school setting. We are an urban district with very limited funds for materials and supplies. My students deserve quality materials as much as any other students in more affluent districts. They should not have to go without materials we need to help them learn all they can in Prekindergarten.
My Project
Young children love to pretend in their play. It’s how they “try on” different grown up careers, actions, attitudes and language. They can problem solve and work out emotions and issues in their own development as they dress up and pretend play. Dressing up helps kids think about grown ups in their lives as well as their own desires to grow and become someone useful in the world. In my classroom there are no dress up clothes nor a place to store them if I had them!vThis project would enhance our dramatic play area in very significant ways that will help them grow and develop!
