My Project
Help Us Ink the Future!
The Art students need your help!
Our goal is to create one of a kind monoprints and etchings while learning the basics of historical printmaking techniques.
Printmaking isn’t just about ideas — it’s about the specialty tools: quality paper, ink, rollers, presses, etching plates, and carving tools. Right now, our limited resources are holding back big ideas.
Students will begin with a planning time, and create an interesting composition that will tell a bold new story in ink.
Using these amazing tools and mediums, students will understand the concept of creating an image in reverse, while honing their skills with the lino cutters, brayers, and burnishers. Concepts will be focused on composition, value, texture, positive-negative relationships in art, and the excitement of pulling one-off painterly prints on specialty papers that will last a lifetime.
Each student will create an interesting composition with a clear and well-positioned focal point and a background that adds to the finished project. To complete the project, they will use a variety of mark-making techniques like hatching, cross-hatching, scumbling, and more. They'll be able to use drypoint print making processes to create a diverse set of finished prints.
After completing this project, students will be able to say:
I can use memories and personal experiences as subjects for my art.
