My students need a printing press to learn the historical and artistic process of printmaking.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Kelvas's classroom raised $589
This project is fully funded
My Students
The invention of the printing press changed history and my students will see how relevant that impact is once they get a chance to use a printing press themselves.
I teach inner city high school students from grades 9-12.
They attend a vocational/technical school that has various shop classes to help them learn a skilled trade. I am building on that emphasis in my art program which I literally started from scratch two years ago. I cover fine art and art history but also teach design concepts and principles to help them understand the visual culture around them.
My Project
By having a printing press in my art room, I have a tangible way to teach printmaking processes the way they have been done for centuries. Students will get a chance to try etchings, linoleum cuts, and perhaps even wood cut prints for advanced students. Students want to try a broad range of art mediums especially for those looking to build an art portfolio for college. Help make their dreams come true!
Donations for this project will help my students gain valuable experience in an art medium they would otherwise never get to try.
Prints they make from this press will be exhibited and also used to make artist books. What is even better is this press can be used over and over for future classes to come!
