Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Alongside the racially diverse literature I share with my students, I also want to expand their understanding through cinema productions that explore these same critical themes. With a Blu-ray player in our classroom, I’ll be able to show powerful films like Fences, Glory, and Pleasantville, each of which confronts issues of prejudice, identity, and race in meaningful and memorable ways.

These films won’t just be watched; they’ll also serve as springboards for rich classroom discussions and reflective writing projects.

Students will analyze how these stories portray discrimination, resilience, and social change, drawing connections between the characters on screen and the world they live in.
