My students are an amazing group of third graders. They are enthusiastic about school and embrace everything we do in class. They love reading, P.E., math, and science. Our school is a kindergarten through eighth-grade school located in rural California. It houses 450 students. Our school is surrounded by forests and mountains and has daily visitors such as geese, turkeys, and deer.
My school had a fire on January 26.
I lost my entire classroom to smoke damage. The materials requested in this project are to help my students and I rebuild our classroom and supplies.
My Project
My students need balls, jump ropes, and tetherballs for our P.E. classes. Last January my school had a fire. Our entire primary building was damaged and torn down. Portables were brought in and placed on our primary playground which has caused our playground space to be minimized. The materials in this project are to provide P.E. equipment that students can play within a small area.
My teaching partners and I have designed a P.E.
program that has been well received by our students. They love the variety we have provided. We have structured p.e. classes four days a week. One day we stretch, the next we teach and practice a skill, the following day we play a game and the last day we run or do running drills. We are requesting these materials so we can continue to offer new games and build more skills.
In addition to our p.e. program, our school participates in the Presidential Fitness Program. At the beginning of the school year, students are tested in various stretching, endurance and agility tests. Throughout the year we practice different skills so students can grow and improve on the tests we give at the beginning of the year. At the end of the year, we retest and compare their new scores to their baseline score. The materials requested in the project will help us design more activities.
