My students need a frost-free refrigerator and freezer to store chemical and biological reagents for hands-on science and biotechnology experiments.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Oszust's classroom raised $533

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in an economically depressed area in New York City. Most of my students' families fall below the poverty line. Many are on public assistance; many others are barely surviving. Yet, my students are expected to meet the same educational standards as more affluent students of New York.
Our school is a small Title I high school located in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn.
We are located in "Asthma Alley," and sandwiched between two major urban bridges- The Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.
All of my students are English Language Learners (ELL). They come from every part of the globe seeking a new life of opportunity and freedom here in the United States. They come with the hope that education will allow them to meet their full potential.
My Project
Science is a discipline that can open doors for many of our students. due to its hands-on laboratory aspect, it can transcend the language barriers that my ELL students face on a daily basis.
Biotechnology is a very expensive course to offer and maintain. Access to a frost-free refrigerator/freezer will allow me to preserve the primers and restriction enzymes that are the essential components of biotechnology.
It will also allow me to store chemicals and other reagents that are used in our biology lab activities.
My job is to do everything in my power to help my students graduate high school and advance to college.
Help me give my students a fighting chance at an education.
Help me help those most in need.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
