This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a green school and classroom. We try to reuse and recycle everything we can in our room. A laminator, sentence strips, and markers will enable us to create a word wall for the various subjects year after year.

I work in a Title I school where about 98% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Most of my students are learning English as a second language. They are sweet and eager to learn but do not have basic background knowledge. They also need to improve their communication skills with each other. Word walls will be used to improve their language skills in all areas.

My Project

The students will use the different colors of the sentence strips to visually show the different word wall subjects. This will help my ELL students know where to look when they want to find out how to spell a word. The markers will be used the same way. Laminating these words will enable me to use these words year after year. The boxes will be perfect to store the words.

My project will help my students focus on the vocabulary of the different subjects.

This will help them in reading and writing by showing them how to spell the various words in subjects such as Science, Math, and Reading.
