This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help us save our resources! With school budgets being cut every year it becomes difficult and costly to replace damaged classroom materials such as teacher created educational games, student learning resources and classroom charts. My students need these resources to scaffold learning.

My school is in a high poverty neighborhood where obtaining resources can be difficult for the children.

They really depend on the school environment to provide them with the necessary support and scaffolds for their learning. Due to daily wear and tear some of our classroom charts, file-folder games and student resources are unable to hold up. These charts, resources and center –based games are important for students. In addition, because each child is unique in their learning style, individualized charts are necessary to promote and support learning for students. The children use these charts daily in class and also take them home. Having a sturdier version of an individualized chart to carry from school to home would be beneficial.

My Project

Many of my students are visual learners while others are tactile- kinesthetic learners. Tactile- kinesthetic learners as well as visual learners learn best by touching, manipulating, and seeing the information being presented to them. A laminator would help make charts and games more tangible and my students would be able to take any charts to their seat to use. Having a laminator would also help students take these charts and games home as a reference tool while they are doing their homework and to help them practice; bridging the gap between home and school in learning.

It is really important for my students to have resources in the classroom and at home to help them understand what they are learning.

The laminator will really help them to have a strong reference tool to refer back to when they are working independently.
