As the nation’s coronavirus pandemic surges once more, the plans for school reopening are still in limbo. After teaching virtually this past spring, I discovered some essential items that I needed to make instruction a little easier. Since I didn’t have these items at home, I did have to get creative to present information to my students. As we go into the new year, I would love to have these essential items on hand in order for me to focus more on building relationships at a distance with new students and families and creating well thought out plans to move students academically.
My Project
The materials requested will allow me to present content clearly over the computer. Pre-K students learn letter identification, letter formation and beginning sounds during the year. I will use the easel to clearly demonstrate how to form letters and write words and sentences without the challenge of fitting it all on a small piece of paper taped to my wall. The alphabet cards will allow my students to engage in beginning sound sorts and upper and lowercase identification. Sentence strips will be used in a variety of ways like building sentences, making flash cards and other writing activities.
