My Students
Our middle school has a diverse student population that includes students from five school districts. More than one-third of our middle school students come from low-income households. Many students struggle with reading issues and read below grade level. Additionally, it can be difficult to engage students while still having them think critically.
Our amazing, diverse students are eager to improve and have the drive to succeed!
Our students need high interest, age-appropriate chapter books. In addition, my students need dry erase boards in order to respond to answers in a quick, engaging manner. By increasing age appropriate, hight interest chapter books to my classroom library, I will strive to foster a love for reading.
My Project
Our school district is currently teaching students via hybrid and remote models. I teach in the classroom to 3 cohorts of students. During the school day, I hold Google Meets with all my students. I would love to have a consistent location to place the laptop as I hold Google Meets and simultaneously teach from the classroom whiteboard. The current classroom furniture does not allow me to be near a laptop while teaching at the board. Additionally, I would like to have a place where students go to when they are making presentations such as reading their published narratives, presenting their Google slides presentations etc. The addition of this adjustable desk/lectern would make a world of difference and save instructional time. Likewise, my students would have an appropriate area for all their future presentations.
