My Project
Our program has a highly commended, retired art teacher who works a few hours each week with our classes to help the students learn to take new risks, explore new art mediums, excel in new ways, and challenge themselves.
While doing this, the students produce exceptional works of art that many never knew they were capable of creating."Presentation is half sold!" - is the phrase our art teacher says every time she mats another art piece.
It is her way of reflecting on its beauty.
While framing is never in the budget, using mats for the art pieces creates the illusion of being a framed artwork. It takes what could seem to be ordinary sketches or paintings and makes them pieces to be hung and treasured. As our art program is run only with grant funds, mat board is something we treasure as it is often more expensive than the cost of the projects themselves.
