Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work at a school where 60% of students speak a language other than English at home. Many students found themselves at our door after living in a refugee camp, escaping war, and/or making the journey here by foot. Their stories are simultaneously both heartbreaking and hopeful.
Students at my school are focusing on a project-based exhibition in honor of Women’s History Month.
Working in collaboration with the school’s Equity Committee, students will be researching and recognizing trailblazing women and their allies. We especially want to recognize individuals who may not be as well known and/or individuals who look more like our student population and their families.
We are asking for presentation boards to showcase their final product and will share in a communal space during our spring Open House/Multicultural Fair. This will be the first formal project for many of these students. Thank you for supporting them.
