This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are special because they are so eager to learn. I love that I am able to incorporate literature with art during my lessons with PreK students. Books, activities, music and crafts are incorporated into my PreK lessons based on the topic we are covering on that week.
The materials in this project will be used for book-based art crafts, which will encourage stronger connections to the texts we read.
The books we read cover a variety of topics throughout the year such as SEL topics, animals, weather, holidays, etc. In the past students have painted a polar bear silhouette landscape, created beaded friendship bracelets, made a construction paper bird cage just to name a few.
As a school librarian, I am not allotted funds to purchase art supplies. Our art teacher does provide me with some art supplies, but she is not always on campus given that she is assigned to two campuses. The supplies in this project would stay in the library and be enough to create engaging crafts for our preschoolers.
