This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Pre-kindergarten youngsters are excited and eager to learn. I teach English Language Learners. One hundred percent of my students are at risk and underprivileged. Many of my students don't experience or see a lot of things outside of their communities/home, and my goal is to allow them to explore the most in the classroom through various resources provided to them. As their teacher, I strive to create a learning environment where each student reaches success through their own individual potential and determination.
My Project
My students would benefit immensely from more STEM focused materials, as I believe they would gain a great amount of problem solving skills and techniques by exercising with such activities. Currently, our classroom is equipped with some small sets of stacking blocks that the students use to build small structures. I believe that if they had the opportunity to use a STEM kit such as “House Building Engineering Center” and “Design Builders”, they will definitely be able to expand the skills they currently hold.
Materials such as “Fairy Tales Problem Solving STEM Kits” will greatly enhance the learning experience that my students will have.
This will allow me to naturally inspire them to explore each challenging situation until they find a solution. In addition, the Design Builders will help students to create letters and recognize the lines and curves in each letter. Once the students recognize how letters are created, they can make correlation by using the House Building Engineering Center when building houses, castles, and skyscrapers.
I want to challenge and inspire my students with activities that will completely draw them in and keep them engaged, these resources will be a great tool to do this and more for my students. It is my job and responsibility to provide different challenges and encourage them to enhance their higher-level thinking and problem-solving skills.
