My Project
I am in the unique position of being my students' first teacher as they begin their school careers. Children develop a lot of social, emotional, language and cognitive skills in my classroom. Their enthusiasm when it comes to learning is contagious and motivates me to find new and fun ways to bring learning to them. With that said, my students would benefit from hands-on materials that they can manipulate and explore which I know is how children learn best. With young children the incorporation of hands-on experiences leads to higher levels of engagement.
As students use their hands to build, sort or otherwise manipulate materials, different areas of the brain are activated.
Quoting an old Chinese proverb: "Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I will understand."
Help me provide "Can Do Science Discovery Kits" so my students can experiment with concepts such as magnetism, buoyancy and motion. Help me provide alphabet file folder games so my students can develop letter identification and letter sound skills while building confidence as they engage with these self-checking games giving them ownership over their own learning.
