My Project

My students are from the African American community, inner city schools. Many of them have Autism and are getting communication therapy for the first time. They have not been exposed to structure, and frequently get their needs and wants met by anticipation of the what their needs and wants are.

I am the SLP in the classroom, teaching them that they have a voice and their opinions and needs and wants should come from within them and not as the adults in their life decide that they need/want.

These toys and manipulatives can help accomplish this goal through direct intervention.
