My Project

As the AVID elective teacher and site coordinator. I have seen firsthand the tremendous impact of AVID organization systems on students’ academic success. The AVID one-binder system ensures that students are organized and prepared at all times. If students have their binder with them, they have all the resources and supplies they need for whatever academic task that awaits them (attending class, doing homework, going to tutoring, studying, etc.) Students benefit so much from the structure AVID provides. They crave having accountability partners in their teachers, checking in with them regularly and holding them to high standards. We want all students to have this support system, not just the students in the AVID elective. As such, we are launching an AVID binders schoolwide initiative in the 2024-2025 school year. We will be holding all students to AVID binder expectations.

All of our students want to be successful, but not all of our students have the resources to be successful.

I am requesting 3-Ring Binders, Loose Leaf Paper, Pencil Pouches, Insertable Dividers and much more. Funding of this project will allow me to remove the financial barrier that many of our students face when it comes to purchasing the supplies needed to meet AVID binder expectations. This project will enable me to provide AVID binder kits to 350 students who are in financial need, equipping them fully with all of the basic school supplies they need to be successful. It will also provide me with an additional 200 binders for students who cannot afford to replace lost or broken binders.
