My Students
Every morning we begin our day with reading, writing and math. My students arrive eager to learn and have fun. I have 10 students with a range of disabilities. Therefore, it is a challenge to make sure all my students receive what they need.
The students are a mixture of 36 boys and girls from grade 6th through 8th.
Their disabilities range from Autism, deafness, vision impairments, intellectual disabilities, severe and profound. This year our Special Education Department began a new program where the special needs students change classes for the first time and for the upcoming year we will be adding job skills to our curriculum. The job skills will consist of mail delivery, coffee shop, technology class, copying/collating, photography, and recycling. Our school is a Title 1 school and does not have enough funding to supply our students with he supplies we need to make this program successful.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will help our students be prepared for the future. The math manipulative will help increase the students math skills, the sensory materials will help our students with Autism to alleviate some of the sensory issues. The printer will be used in our job task site. Our goals is to increase our students reading, math, and social skills.
Our students need the math manipulative to increase their math skills for the job work site that we have created at the school.
The printer will allow the students to print/copy for the teachers in school. The sensory materials will help our students with Autism to alleviate some of the sensory issues. Our goals is to increase our students reading, math, social skills and to teach job readiness skills.
