My Project
We are starting a unit on poetry! In this unit, we will learn about how to write and read many different types of poems. The mentor text anthologies and books will give us new poems to read to spark our interest in the genre. The thesaurus books will help us discover interesting adjectives and write with imagery. The fluency kit from Lakeshore will help us read poetry smoothly with repetition.
In our unit, we will also tie in Black History Month and prolific black poets, such as Amanda Gorman.
Seeing a young poet who looks like them will inspire my students!
