Preparing Our Classroom for Learning!

Help me give my students materials like a portable basketball hoop, soft seats, MagnaTiles, and craft supplies for going back to the classroom in September.

My Students

Our school is located in an ethnically diverse part of Seattle, WA. We are a Title I school where all students receive free breakfast and 80%+ receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Our students will need to feel part of the classroom community again through actually doing activities together rather than over a computer screen.

My Project

This past year and a half of remote learning meant sending home materials and toys to all students so that we could have shared items to learn together with, both during our virtual times together and their own independent learning at home. These materials largely came from our own classroom supply. We would like to re-stock the materials so that students can keep what we have given.

These learning materials will create shared experiences in the same space and will also provide much needed social emotional activities to cope with the traumas of the past year in a half.

The materials in this project support physical needs- getting the body moving and active (addressing sensory needs). It will support their creativity- a way to express their ideas through art. Finally, it will also support their inner architects and engineers through building.
