Preparing for the New School Year

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is loud, energetic, and fast-paced. I teach two high school band courses, music appreciation, yearbook, and co-teach middle school band. My students work extremely hard to come together and develop their musical skills, both as soloists and as part of an ensemble.

My school is a rural Title I school in Oklahoma.

I am currently living my dream of teaching band at my alma mater. The band is known for a long-standing tradition of excellence, and I intend to continue that tradition for many years to come.

My Project

As I prepare for my first year at a new school, I am already working to make sure my classroom is organized and well stocked with supplies. I have been spending a lot of time in my classroom this summer making sure everything is organized and ready for the new year. We have a good supply of instrument accessories such as reeds, valve oil, etc. but they are currently not stored in a way that makes them easy to organize and access. I am requesting the two rolling storage carts to provide a way to clearly sort and label all of our accessories for easier access. In addition, we have a small classroom printer that is running very low on toner. Having spare toner cartridges will help provide a reliable source for printed materials when they are needed.

My students are eager to begin the new school year.

I want to do everything I can to be as ready as I can be for them. Having the right materials means that my students can work more efficiently and successfully. We've got a lot of amazing performances in the works. These items will help us get there even faster and without breaking the bank for us.
