Preparing for Success

My students need materials, Solve & Check Problem Solving Sliders, Problem Solving Card Bank and Test Prep Math Rings, that will help them become strong readers and great mathematicians.

My Students

My students are eager, bright and kind third graders.

They attend a Title 1 school and are currently in the midst of preparing for their first ever, end-of-year standardized test. Their favorite time of the day is anytime they're allowed to take their work on a clipboard or a lapboard and move around the room. My students understand that learning takes place any and everywhere.

My Project

I want to encourage my students to become great critical thinkers and problem solvers by giving them plenty of opportunities to practice in a new and fun way. My hope is that the Solve & Check Problem Solving Sliders, Problem Solving Card Bank and Test Prep Math Rings will allow them to not only prepare for their first big test, but also get them excited about math and problem solving. I also want to use the Rate & Accuracy, Phrasing and Punctuation Listening Centers to help grow my readers. Listening to these CDs will allow them to have another great model of strong reading that they can learn from. Finally, I've asked for a few items that can be infused into our Morning Meeting as group activities. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when I pull out the game I Have, Who Has and the Match & Sort Reading Comprehension Quickies.

These materials will provide another outlet for my students to expand their learning and understanding beyond the whiteboard and their desks.
