Second grade has changed a lot over the years. The students are expected to achieve more than ever before. How can they do this without being provided the materials to do it?
My students are in a high poverty public school that is about 70% low income.
This is something that already puts some of them at a disadvantage. They are not all able to get extra materials at home to continue learning what has been introduced at school. For this reason, I want to be able to expose them to as many learning opportunities as possible! It is in my classroom where they get to take risks and open their minds to new learning experiences! I need your help to give them all of these experiences!
My Project
In my classroom, students have flexible seating options. These are important because it allows students to have a choice in their learning environment. It also helps me to keep students socially distanced in our classroom.
Many students are returning to the classroom for the first time in 18 months.
Some of my students have not been in a classroom for instruction since March of 2020. It's important for them to understand the changes that took place, what we can do to keep ourselves safe, and feel comfortable in their transition back to the classroom. The books funded by this project will do just that!
