Preparing for A Virtual and Simultaneously Learning Experience

Help me give my students an updated, sanitized, & impactful learning experience incorporating digitized interactive notebooks, Bluetooth headphones with mics, document cams and dry erase whiteboards to improve chat discussions, student work, and online participation.

My Students

Despite the past extenuating circumstances that our middle schoolers faced such as ineffective wi-fi services, high absentee rates, using one's personal home space as their "new" classroom plus the social & emotional impacts of the current global pandemic, we are returning back to face-to-face instruction. The majority of our students are returning but there are a few students who will continue with virtual instruction. To those who will continue with virtual learning, I want their online experience to be time--on-task, impactful, and run like clockwork while all are returning back to normalcy. Also, we will continue to encourage and support their decision to stay home while their care, well-being, and comfort are at ease until they feel to return back to F2F. Our 6th-grade babies are transitioning from an elementary mindset into young teenagers. Our 7th graders are getting ready to be the seniors of our building. Lastly, our 8th graders are getting ready for the next chapter or milestone in high school. This new wave of teaching and learning has been a challenge but we made it through.

My Project

These materials will help to set up a sanitized, at-home, digitized learning environment for our virtual scholars. The notebooks will be used to record their notes. Students can then take a quick, full-sized snapshot of their awesome student work transferring digitally using the portable document camera to submit for teacher grading. The Bluetooth headphones, wireless keyboards/mouse, and dry-erasable whiteboards will upgrade their student workstations, improve student participation and interaction for more student collaboration in breakout room group sessions, and chatted/verbalized whole-class discussions. Providing a portable air purifier, a sanitizing set filled with gloves, wipes, and sanitizer plus cleaning supplies for cleaning their wireless keyboard, mouse, and laptop screen will promote a safe and clean virtual learning environment, Using the Coccyx seat cushion and support pillow helps to distribute their body weight effectively, improves posture, and makes one's chair feel more comfortable to sit in when enduring extended virtual learning sessions. Those who engage in virtual settings have voiced that at times suffer from back pain, stressed-out joints, and body aches. Parents will see that their scholars will learn with ease virtually, actively engage better in online class discussions and achieve high expectations while learning safely in the comfort of their own home.
