My Students

Each day we start the day with the students using our smart board to sign in. After our rise and shine activity we participate in centers where we use iPads throughout the classroom. We use them to read books, learn sight words, practice writing skills, and we use them to retell stories.

My students are very active and enthusiastic bunch.

They vary in economic status, race, and ethnicity. We have far more boys than girls this year but the girls we have keep up with the boys and then some. Technology is an important part of our school and district. We as teachers are committed to having them "future ready" by the time they graduate and we begin with technology in pre-k and continue adding technology until the graduate high school. All of our students work hard and are very eager to learn. They are a joy to teach and I learn more about them every day.

My Project

We have several iPads in our classroom so we would like to continue adding until we have a one to one ratio so we could do activities where each student can use the iPad instead of sharing. There are teaching strategies on things like Kahoot that quickly assess a students understanding of a concept. Using programs such as this could give me a better understanding of what they know and what I need to reteach.

Having this additional resource will help me to teach the children in a world where technology is not a perk but a must have.

We need these children to be ready for a future where Technology is in every part of their lives.
