My project needs 1 copy of 101 Rhythm Instrument Activities, 1 copy of Music and Movement in the Classroom, and one 35 piece set of the multi-instrument classroom set.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a pre-k teacher at a Title 1 school with a vast majority of students who come from low social economical backgrounds. I teach 40 students.
I love music, rhythm and rhyme and have experienced first hand how music can not only make you feel alive but also help teach rhythm and rhyme which are key to getting young children ready to read. I am a firm believer in teaching the basic core academic disciplines in new, exciting and creative ways.
What I am asking for is a multi-instrument kit with 35 different kid-friendly instruments that will add so much to our classroom. I know my students will really enjoy trying so many new instruments and experiencing how each one has it own unique characteristic just like they do. I would like the CD, Music And Movement In The Classroom which has many fun and exciting songs that my students can dance, sing and play their own instruments along to. I would also like the book 101 Rhythm Instrument Activities. This book provides so many resources for music activities that are not only help teach and reinforce rhythm and rhyme, but also will help my students start building their own appreciation and love of music.
I strive for a class that is full of life and music is such a great way to achieve this. I know my students families struggle with finances and most of my students are not and will not ever have the opportunity to take music lessons, but I am excited to have the opportunity to expose them to many different typed of instruments and share in their discovery of their own love of music, rhythm and rhyme. We plan on having a program at the end of the year where students can showcase what they have learned for their parents and families. Thank you for helping make this possible.
