My Project
Flexible seating allows my students to be in charge of their learning and make choices in their learning time. During independent work times they have the opportunity to sit in a location in the classroom that is best for them. Currently my students have the ability to sit near our class pets, at different tables or desks, under their desk, or on the carpet. I have noticed that my students become more engaged in their learning when they are given a choice in their seating.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The seating options that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating choices. The wobble seats can e used on the floor or a chair to allow students some movement while working. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The stools can be used to allow students to make circle for group discussions in the classroom or hallway. The beanbag chairs will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options for independent work or quiet reading time.
I have seen how a choice in seating can help students be more engaged in their learning and make better choices while working.
