Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is located in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. The students must be in a lower income bracket to qualify for pre-k. Many of their parents are either from Hispanic countries or are first generation Americans. It is in the classroom that my four and five year olds first develop their feelings about school, learning how it relates to them. They come in eager and ready to learn about the world around them. They especially love learning through technology and play.
My Project
I firmly believe that students must have fun while learning during the school day. This is especially true of four year olds.
The Osmo kits are a great way to help support the academic skills so needed by my students.
The students will be able to use these kits during my math, science, and language arts centers.
The tangrams will help with spacial reasoning, the word games with phonics and the coding game will help with learning to code.
Students are encourage to use these kits in pairs or groups thus promoting collaboration. Finally, these kits are hands on which is perfect for pre-kinders.
