This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a very low socioeconomic environment in which most of them receive free lunch in our district. These children come from all types of backgrounds, and many are children that have migrated to the United States. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting. We move from learning letters to reading very quickly. We help students learn English while holding onto and becoming literate in their own language as well.
My students have not only been affected by their low socioeconomic condition, but they also live in the second highest state most affected by the coronavirus in the nation.
We are continuously looking for innovative approaches to teaching and learning to help our most underprivileged students. A creative use of technology can make a difference in their lives.
My Project
This project is meant to help facilitate virtual instruction for our preschoolers. Communication is a key element in delivering the content to our youngest students and their parents. Relying on a built-in microphone has shown to be a challenge for parents to hear the teacher and teachers having to speak louder for the built-in mic to pick sound has been a concern during this pandemic while teaching indoors.
Being able to deliver good communication is an integral part of teaching, and this headset will help overcome some of those challenges during virtual teaching.
Teaching virtually is not easy, teaching virtually with a face covering on is even more challenging. This headset will help provide a better virtual learning experience to help our students and parents in these challenging times.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
