Pre-K, Tell Me Your Story Please

My Students

We have a diverse group of Pre-K students who are ready and excited to learn! With your support, they can grow, learn, and spread their excitement for education into their future academic career. Pre-K is a special place for children to learn how to get along with others while building self confidence and self esteem. They learn how to socialize with others, manage disagreements, and build key communication skills needed in the future.

We are curious and active learners who love to make new discoveries by exploring our surroundings.

It's hard for a four year old to sit and listen for long periods of time. That's why we learn through play! Our classroom materials are essential to our learning process. The materials we play with allow us to role play, reenact what we have learned, illustrate, create, build, rebuild, count, and manipulate water/sand flow. Sometimes we don't understand the purpose of an object so we play around and test our theories. Sometimes we'll think some more and try out a new ways to use our materials. We make observations and discuss what we notice. Through our discussions, we draw conclusions that help us to make sense of the world.

My Project

Many of my Pre-K students are new to the country and Pre-K is often their first experience with English and school. In order to encourage my students to speak more and build language skills, I want to encourage my students to tell their stories!

Our classroom is currently in need of some technological updates!

A camera to help us take photos of the students while they're working. A camcorder to record the children singing and put on mini shows. A projector, a wireless speaker, and a digital photo frame to display children's photos and videos. With the new technology children can see and hear themselves. It will motivate them to use oral language and express themselves, all the while building language skills and confidence.
