This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to explore, wonder, tinker, and create! We work hard each day in a low-income, urban community to learn and grow. My little thinkers love to be challenged and learn through exploring the world around them. They come to school each day with new questions that motivate them (and me) to be a productive part of our school community.
In my class, we learn more than academics.
We also learn empathy, team work, leadership, and how to grow from our mistakes. Our motto is, "We take care of each other!" I feel privileged to be a part of the growth that my students experience each day. Many of my students have challenges in their lives outside of school. It is important to me to provide a safe environment with a variety of experiences to foster their love of learning.
My Project
Many students on our campus do not have experience using desktop or laptop computers. We are building a computer lab on our campus in order to provide them with an opportunity to experience those tools. Our computer lab will consist of 30 laptops. Each class in our school will have an opportunity to use the lab for at least 45 minutes each week.
Our students will be learning to use computer input devices while exploring language arts, math, and science activities.
We have the computers - but no headphones! These 30 headphones will allow our students to take control of their technology experience by minimizing distractions from other computers.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
