This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children learn through actively being involved in their education. Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". An IPad will give my preschool students with special needs an opportunity to become activity involved in their own leaning.

My students are preschool children with special needs, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, speech and language delays, developmental and cognitive delays.

I have two students in wheelchairs and another student with mobility problems. They are three to five years old. My students live in a poverty stricken area. All of my students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students live in the technology age. However, my school's budget does not allow for materials like IPad's for daily use in the classrooms. My students need an IPad to support them at their developmental level. I know that they will learn so many skills using an IPad. Many preschool classed use IPad's to support student learning because it is portable, developmentally appropriate and easy for them to manipulate. Please help me make their school experiences more meaningful and hands on.

My Project

An IPad will benefit my students in many ways. It will be used to facilitate conversation while observing photos. I would be able to show them photos items that correlates to our field of study. It will help my student engage in literature. There are stories that are available and my students will be able to turn pages independently with a swipe of their finger. Also, I would like to incorporate the IPad in our daily programs for circle time, music and language development. I would also like to use the IPad create video books so that I can involve the family in their child's learning. Some of my students are non-verbal and have limited motion. For these students, I can set up the IPad on their lap tray. They will be able to fully engage with their peers. They will no longer have to look from afar. They can be a full participant. I can also use it as an alternative communication systems. Teaching them to use an iPad at this early age could greatly impact their lives for the better

An IPad for my students with special needs would meet and improve their education needs.

It will help my students totally engage at their ability and physical level. It will help me teach and reinforce learning goals on their IEP's and have the potential to improve their quality of life, inside and outside the classroom. My students need an IPad, protective cover and insurance plan to facilitate communication, engage in literature, develop music skills and to support learning .
