Pre-K Six Feet Apart: Social Distancing

My Students

My class is an amazing bunch! Our school is a Title I school that serves students who come from a diverse set of backgrounds, experiences, and a low-income school district. My students are faced with several daily challenges in and out of the classroom. The students in my classroom are full of energy and very enthusiastic about learning. Pre-K is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals.

In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.

My goal to help students be successful, emotionally, and academically.

My Project

Can you imagine 22 little learners coming to school for the first time and not knowing where to go or how to stay 6 feet apart from each other? It can be a little scary and very chaotic. SitSpots would solve this problem. Each student would have their own special color and number to stand on, which would help cut down on transitions and the fear of not knowing where to sit or stand.

The SitSpots would provide visual cues that would help my pre-k students to know where to go throughout the day, and help them stay safe and healthy.

I would use them during circle time, lines to stand in, or as a path for them to follow. They would also be able to learn their colors, ABC's, and numbers with the SitSpots.

The chair pockets would allow the students to have their own supplies at their seats. This would reduce the spread of germs in the room. They would store their school supplies, water bottles, and finished work in their very own pocket!

Please help keep my 4 to 5-year-olds safe and understand what it means to stay 6 feet apart from each other.
