My students hunger for knowledge, and have an insatiable appetite for learning. These books will help to expand the imagination of my students, and encourage them to take steps to become successful independent readers.
I am full day Pre-Kindergarten teacher in a Title 1 school, in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn, NY.
My students are aged 3 and 4 years. My students enjoy listening to stories and acting out parts of stories.
As with most early learners my students do not sit still for long periods of time. The books that I am requesting are very engaging. I believe that these books will hold the interest of the most energetic child.
My school is a Title 1 school, the majority of the students qualify for free lunch. The school in which I work, is a safe, warm and welcoming place where the students are encouraged to enjoy not only their academics, but also their peers and educators.
My students will be able to utilize the sanitizing wipes for quick clean ups, the detergent will be used by the teacher and paraprofessional to keep cutlery clean. The baking soda will help with our classroom refrigerator.
My Project
My students enjoy hearing stories, acting out parts of the story and choral reading.
The beginning books, by Dr. Seuss will be used for phonemic Awareness and Read-Alouds, to prompt and support classroom discussions, and to inform the students of the world, other text and themselves.
The Big Books will be used for Shared Reading activities, in which the children will be able to view the print and share the reading with their peers and the teacher.
The Easy readers will be sent home with the child, so that there is a home-school connection. The parents will be in the know of their child's progress.
The Common Core Exemplar text will keep the students abreast of skills they need to be successful in future grades.
As with most full day Pre-K classrooms, we serve breakfast, lunch and snack. We need to have clean hands, clean tables and clean utensils, also we want our refrigerator to have a fresh smell. The cleaning supplies and baking soda will ensure all objects are kept sanitary.
The donation of these books will have a positive effect in my classroom, and on the lives of the children by: exposing them to print, fostering a love of reading, expanding their knowledge of themselves, text, and the world around them.
These books will help to increase the knowledge of my students.
The donation of cleaning items will help reduce colds, and keep our classroom fresh and clean. Please donate to this very necessary project. Thank you
