Help me give my students different materials to share during our online class meetings. I would like to present to my students different lessons using a magnetic board and different magnetic materials like counters, objects, pictures, ten frames.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
There are 22 bilingual students in my PreK class. Most of my students are able to connect to our online meetings, use the learning applications online and turn in school work. Most of them have one device at home (tablet, phone) which they have to share it with other siblings during the day. I make videos of my lessons and send them to my students so they can watch them when they are able to use the device. During the class meetings, I do a lesson using things they may have at home (water bottle caps, pasta, beans) so students can do the activities at home using what they have available.
My Project
During my online videos and online class meeting, I plan to model how to count, add, subtract, identify shapes, classify objects. For my Math Lessons using the magnetic dry erase board and the magnetic manipulatives such as counters, numbers, ten frames, pictures. During my Language arts lessons, I am planning to use the magnetic pictures to classify them according to initial sound, ending sounds etc.
Using visuals is very important for students at this age; I would like to use these magnetic material to create engaging lessons that will help my students to reinforce their Math and Language skills.
