My Students
Pre-Kindergarten students begin to learn about math by playing with manipulatives.
There are 18 energetic three and four-year-old children in my class.
Our school includes students from Pre-K through eighth grade. It is in a high poverty area, and about 95% of the students in the school receive free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood, where budget cuts have left no hope that materials will be purchased in the near future.
My Project
The 2 Lakeshore Instant Math Centers will give my students the opportunity to develop the math skills needed to prepare for the Common Core Standards in kindergarten. And the best part of these instant centers is that they teach my students about numbers, measurement, and much more through play.
The Chair Cubes will provide adaptive seating to my students who have trouble sitting on the rug. These chairs will fit perfectly in a single square on our rug without sticking into another students space. Children who are unable to sit on the rug during lessons, will be able to sit in a chair and participate.
Learning through play in Pre-K is so important.
Providing my students with new and fun materials to play and learn with is essential in my Title I School, and my students really deserve them.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
