Our students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, and engaging projects that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are our inspiration!
Our school is located in West Harlem (Title I district).
Our student population is diverse and includes Hispanic, African American, Black, Caucasian, Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian), Biracial, ENL (English as a New Language), and IEP (Individualized Education Program) students. Diversity within our school is something we embrace and nurture.
My Project
Our students are so curious and love reading new books. We need more books that reflect our students and who they are. I want them to have reflective mirrors of themselves, windows where they can see and learn how others identify, and sliding glass doors to be able to go and experience another culture.
Our students need more diverse books in our library to not only grow their curiosity about the world around them but be able to see themselves reflected in the books they read.
