My Students

Our students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, and engaging projects that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are our inspiration!

Our school is located in West Harlem (Title I district).

Our student population is diverse and includes Hispanic, African American, Black, Caucasian, Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian), Biracial, ENL (English as a New Language), and IEP (Individualized Education Program) students. Diversity within our school is something we embrace and nurture.

My Project

My Pre-K students are at that age where they are actual sponges. They soak up everything you say and do and are willing participants in the learning process. In my experience in Pre-K, they are capable of learning their letters and letter sounds. I wanted to create a Donors Choose project that supported this learning in ways that will be engaging and fun. Young Pre-k students are able to learn through rote memorization, but usually succeed even more with stimulating activities.

With these phonics materials and NumberBots, my students will be able to engage in learning literacy skills through interactive tools and games.

This will help create a spark towards literacy learning and help my students prepare throughout the year for Kindergarten.
