Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a second year pre-k teacher still navigating and learning what works best for my teaching style and for the new pre-k scholars that I have in class this year. I am lucky enough to work in a program in which I also get to work with a special education teacher and have students who are general education scholars who have IEPs. With those differences what stays the same is our philosophy of kids learn the best through play.
Kids learning through play helps to foster the foundation of learning that they will continue to use in their education careers.
The create-a-burger sequencing stacker, tongs color sorting kit, load it up recycling truck, and dig and discover gemstones will allow students to create and learn while building on those skills that they need for our Nevada pre-k standards and also continue to build on in kinder such as fine motor and categorizing. The apple tree counting box will be utilized in our math center during our fall unit where students will work on counting to give and grouping items which is a Nevada Pre K content standard. The dress up shoes and stroller will be used in the dramatic play center for students to show and act out what they see in their world outside of their classroom family. Markers and the leaves rubbing plays will be in art and our fine motor center that will help the needs of our students with IEP goals and our Gen ed students. They will be able to work on their pencil grip, colors, and discuss textures.
