Pre-K Kids Need STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Materials!
My students need various materials to engage in STEM learning in our classroom. They need coding toys to learn coding technology, math manipulatives, engineering toys, planting supplies, butterflies, and science materials to learn new concepts.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with 20 wonderful and inquisitive Pre-Kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. We have children from many different cultures in our class and children with many special abilities.
Our Pre-K students love to learn new things daily!
For many of these children, it is their first year in school. They are learning about themselves, others, school rules, routines, and many new concepts in various subjects. They have many opportunities to explore what kind of learner they are and learn concepts in many different ways!
My Project
STEM is the learning of science, technology, engineering, and math. You are never too young to begin learning these concepts and my students are ready and willing to start learning!
Having STEM materials in our Pre-K classroom will really help the children learn these academic concepts in hands-on, fun, and engaging ways.
For science, the children will learn about life cycles with live caterpillars, planting seeds, taking care of the plants, and keeping scientific journals of their growing process. Technology and engineering will be learned by building with duplo blocks and STEM kits that encourage logical thinking and building skills. Math materials will be used to teach measurement, counting, identifying numbers, learning beginning addidition and subtraction.
